Community

Building homes, building community.

At Miranda & Hardt, we realize that it's not just houses and office buildings that define a community. It's the people in them, and what they do to make the community a better place. Indeed, there are quite a few organizations, programs and initiatives that are near and dear to our hearts. We're proud to participate in and support each one of them:

  • Contractors for a Cause—As founding chairmembers of this group of local contractors, we strive to make a difference here by giving back to the community which has so enriched our lives.  Our present pilot project is in concert with the Justin W. Jennings Foundation in order to build Justin's Beach House.  This home in the Bethany Beach area will be for families of patients with cancer to enjoy a place of respite and peace together here at the beach. Other goals include scholarships and individual homeowner retrofit assistance based on need.
  • Bethany-Fenwick Chamber of Commerce—We are long-term members of the chamber and we realize that its work is good for us all.  Count us as major sponsors for the "Caribean Christmas" Fundraiser event for local charities.
  • Local Volunteer Fire Companies—We are major contributors to the Bethany Beach company of local heroes and are proud to show our support of all our local community fire companies by contributing to their vsrious fundraising events.
  • South Coastal Library—As Friends of the South Coastal Library, we help raise funds for the library's upkeep as well as the capital campaign to expand the facility - a project currently underway in 2008.
  • Safe Haven Animal Rescue—We are active in promoting the building of this no-kill shelter in Sussex County, as a safe haven for the lost pets of the area.
  • Playhouse Theatre—We also believe in supporting the arts community, as it inspires all of us in our daily lives. We are long-term season ticket holders of this group.

The Spring Gala is a black tie fund raising event held each year. A large portion of the proceeds in 2007 are designated for the Justin W. Jennings Foundation in order to build Justin's Beach House.   Upon completion, this house will provide a brief respite for the whole family from the burdens that accompany every individual's fight against deadly cancers.
